Practice!
Technical Concepts: Warmed up using the warmups Matt taught me: using a harsh V sound, and again, worked on the vowels.
Minutes: 10
Repertoire: Worked on my Jason Robert Brown stuff again (What Is It About Her and I Cannot Hear the City).
Minutes: 20
Success: Focusing on vowels helps so much for "I Cannot Hear..." It's so relieving! Also, thinking of a more pure "AY" sound at the end of "What is It..." help as well.
Areas of Improvement: Need more breath for the last note on "What is it..." I also need to find a good placement for that note because I can't put vibrato on it...
Notes: Vowels are the best!
Coaching!
Time and date: Today at 12:00
Instructor: David Geist
Minutes: About a half hour, a little more
Repertoire: I Cannot Hear The City and What is it about Her?
Points Covered: Finding a good cut to the songs for the master class. Thinking about telling the story through the music, and keeping it connected. We also learned the difference between pop music and Musical Theatre. Pop is mood based, giving off a certain mood where as musical theatre is about a story and the feeling given from the song.
Notes:It was great working with David, and I feel very confident to sing for Jason Robert Brown!
Healthy Meal 10!
